In celebration of International Women’s Day, we’re about to introduce you to some of the incredible women behind FUNKIN COCKTAILS. 

With 62% of our leadership team are female, these ladies haven’t just inspired our delicious range of cocktails, they inspire the rest of our team on the daily. 

It’s time to hear the amazing advice, sip on their successes, and get inspired by their favourite flavours. 

ROSIE - HEAD OF BRAND

1. What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

Everyday should be IWD, but for me it is two things - my Mum's birthday, the strongest, calmest, most positive woman in my life and a reminder that inequality is rife within my industry and life. It is a celebration of strong females, and a reminder that strength means many things - supporting each other, saying it's ok to not be able to juggle everything and reflecting on ways you can uplift others, whoever they are.

2. What’s been the most important piece of advice you have been given? 

There are a lot of things, but I am currently pregnant and I was recently told by a female colleague that when she was pregnant, young and ambitious (she's still young by the way), that she put herself under too much pressure to do everything, be everything - it really stuck with me.

3. What is your favourite FUNKIN cocktail? 

My favourite FUNKIN COCKTAIL is the DOUBLE SHOT PINEAPPLE DAIQUIRI - deliciously strong, juicy and sophisticated.

SUI - FINANCE DIRECTOR

1. What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

Women are their own worst critics because we want to give our best.  International Women's Day reminds me of the importance of supporting and looking out for each other along the way.  It also reminds me of the importance of upholding our core values.

2. What’s been the most important piece of advice you have been given? 

It's difficult to give just one piece of advice as I have met many incredible and really wise people who have guided me in my life.  However, I would say this, "be genuine, be authentic and inspire, be excellent, have fun, hold onto your dreams and try".

3. What is your favourite FUNKIN cocktail? 

It's very difficult to choose as there are many great products.  But for the moment, it has to be Passion Fruit Margarita DOUBLE SHOT.  It's new and tasty.  Go on, try it if you haven't tried it yet!

CAROLINE - MANAGING DIRECTOR

1. What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

For me it is a day that celebrates all women for who they are and the amazing things they do, without any divisions of origin, age, religion or identification. It is a truly unifying day!

2. What’s been the most important piece of advice you have been given? 

Never let the odds prevent you from what you know in your heart you are meant to do. 

3. What is your favourite FUNKIN cocktail? 

Our brand new Nitro Blue Raspberry ready-to-drink cocktail. Watch this space...

SHANNON - SENIOR TRADE MARKETING MANAGER

1. What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

For me, the last few years in a post-lockdown world have raced by, it is very easy to go on autopilot without taking the opportunity to pause and reflect. IWD serves as a wonderful reminder to take this reflection time, celebrating personal and professional achievements for both myself and the amazing women I have around me. Each year, because of IWD, I see a spike of women collectively discussing their successes and journeys which I find hugely inspiring. This is particularly brilliant when you consider that from a young age, women are nurtured into underplaying their own abilities and efforts, often taught to not be too 'boastful' ("I love your dress!" "No, no, this old thing? I just threw it on, I've had it for years!"). We work hard and I love that each year I am seeing more women shout about it!

2. What’s been the most important piece of advice you have been given? 

Take the time to celebrate every success and learn from every failure. 

3. What is your favourite FUNKIN cocktail? 

I am a huge tequila fan. I like to spice up my Lime Margarita with a couple drops of tabasco for that extra kick.

MARCELLA - HEAD OF INNOVATION

1. What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

For me IWD is a day to honor the resilience and strength of women that have contributed to a more inclusive and equitable world as well as acknowledging the work that still needs to be done. 

2. What’s been the most important piece of advice you have been given? 

It is ok to feel fear, but remember courage is the willingness to act in spite of it. Be courageous. This is my mother's favourite quote: "ten miedo, pero hazlo con miedo"

3. What is your favourite FUNKIN cocktail? 

Nitro Espresso Martini :)
